Australia’s Highlights
A Comprehensive Tour of Australia | 16 days
This itinerary covers the icons of Australia – The Rock, The Reef and The Rainforest – with our added secret ingredient – you will spend your days touring with expert guides who are passionate about their local turf.
After you have spent a few days in Sydney, sailing in Sydney Harbour and discovering the city, you’ll fly to the Red Centre where you will spend some time at very close proximity to Uluru (Ayers Rock). In the middle of nowhere (literally) is your accommodation at Longitude 131. The 15 tents offer stunning views over Ayers Rock which seems to change its colour by the minute. Your days here are all about exploring the area, and cocooning in your tent-with-a-view. Bamurru is a safari lodge inspired by Africa but very much Australian in flavour – top quality guiding, delicious food, rustic but very comfortable accommodation, and the flood plains of the Top End will provide you with another fascinating insight to Australia.
Then to the coast, where you will spend the last days of your journey around the Great Barrier Reef and enjoying the Daintree Rainforest. At Silky Oaks, surrounded by the lush rainforest, your Riverhouse offers a world of luxury and privacy and is a perfect base from which to head out to the reef. A stay at Lizard Island, a one-island-one-resort on the Great Barrier Reef, is the ultimate splurge and gives meaning to the expression ‘save the best for last’! Lizard Island is one of Australia’s most stylish and luxurious retreats, offering a prime reef position. Spend your days diving, snorkelling or simply relaxing in your hammock…..
Although possible for most of the year this itinerary is best in our winter months with the absolute best time being May to September.

Fiona’s travel tips
GETTING THERE: Australia is serviced by many Airlines offering daily flights including British Airways, Qantas, Singapore Airlines and Emirates. Flying time to Sydney is 22 – 24 hours.
TIME DIFFERENCE: +7 to +11 hours, with three time zones.
GETTING AROUND: Australia has a good network of domestic flights, is an easy place to self-drive a hire car or we can arrange driver/guides. Charter flights are a way to cut out long drives and make travel connections smoother and a helicopter safari is one of the best ways to see the Kimberley region! It is important to remember that Australia is a big country and sometimes getting from A to B can take quite a long time!
WEATHER: The best time to visit the Southern Part of the Country is from October to March, while Northern Australia is lovely from April to September.
